Festival Season is Here!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Well things are ever so slowly starting to warm up around Michigan and you know what that means- Beer  Festival Season is officially upon us!  We are kicking things off in a BIG way with the Inaugural Kalamazoo Beer Fest this weekend (Saturday from 2PM-8PM) and we couldn’t be more excited!  We should be easy to spot with our “seafoam” tent (pictured above).  Is it blue, is it green?  I’ll let social media duke this one out 😂

Locust Black Citra IPA, Dubbstep Dubbel and Rye in Your IPA

I am pleased to share that the volunteer pourers will have 3 of our offerings on tap:

First, we have our never-before-seen black IPA made with all Citra hops in our Locust Black Citra IPA.  For this beer, I targeted dark malts which would bring forth an intense “midnight” shade, but also have low astringency to achieve a nice balance with the hops.

Second, we have a returning favorite in our Dubbstep Dubbel.  This Belgian Dubbel embodies the  traditional characteristics of the style, namely a light banana character (from the yeast) and caramel notes (from the grain and use of Soft Brown Belgian Candi Sugar).  With its beautiful color and easy finish it’s sure to go down smoothly.

Third, we have Rye In Your IPA making a second appearance.  This was a real crowd pleaser at the Grand Rapids Winter Beer Festival in February.  Made with Mosaic and Citra hops, this beer makes use of Red Rye malt to add a touch of rye “spiciness” without being overpowering.  This is a well-balanced IPA that is very crushable.

Stay tuned to our social media pages for updates on additional festivals.  We have quite the lineup slated for this year!

Cheers!!! 🍻
